Community Involvement

Petals Trust

Petals Trust is a PBO and registered with SARS. Supporting their cause financially will not only make a difference in their community, but your donation to the Trust is also tax deductible as a Section 18A certificate will be issued.

Petals Care Centre (owned by the Petals Trust) was established in 2014 by founding member, Christine Coelho. It provides a secure facility for elderly men and women who are destitute, to enjoy peace and independent living within a safe environment.

Their latest residential premises in Riviersonderend was purchased in 2016 and accommodates 16 residents who:

  • suffer from dementing illnesses;
  • are destitute from families;
  • need access to proper personal care;
  • suffer from sensory or physical disabilities;
  • are victims of domestic violence.
It gives us great joy to manage the financial statements for Petals Care Centre free of charge and we have also sponsored their website http://petalscare.org.

Ubuntu Crafters

Ubuntu Crafters was established as a Non-Profit Organisation in 2012. Stemming from the informal teaching of craft skills to a group of unemployed women in Riviersonderend, the support from the community soon saw this initiative bloom into an established business with dedicated sewing and carpentry workshops, and a craft shop. Foster Wealth administered their accounts and assisted with their tax administration.

Even though Ubuntu Crafters was discontinued due to lack of community involvement or support, Foster Wealth Management is delighted to have been part of their journey.

Goedgedacht Trust

During February 2014 we had our team building weekend at the Goedgedacht Farm. We were all so inspired, we immediately bought an olive tree.  Since then we have also donated financially.

Victoria Lodge

Victoria Lodge is an informal settlement in Southfield in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, where Michael Slingers and his wife Ruth, along with a small group of ladies, run an outreach programme, which is headed by the Good Shepherd Anglican Church.

The priority of this outreach programme is the children of Victoria Lodge; to whom they provide daily sandwiches. Michael also runs an after-school care centre on Mondays and Thursdays, where he helps children with their homework. Additionally, lunch is prepared by Ruth and another lady from the Southfields Methodist Church.

The Foster Group has been involved with Victoria Lodge since 2013. Each year we take a day to reflect on what really matters and just how privileged we are. We have come to learn that entrepreneurs are the individuals that create substantial economic growth and believe that it is vitally important to support the youth of South Africa.

We are therefore committed to increasing our support for Victoria Lodge by providing them with resources like stationery and sandwiches and the most precious gift of all – our time and aim to making increasingly bigger contributions with each passing year.
